EUR/USD and GBP/USD remain under their 20-day and 50-day averages after further five-day and 20-day declines. Technical analysis
EUR/USD
Bearish 1.1353 -0.17% liveEUR/USD is below its SMA20 at 1.1510 and SMA50 at 1.1535, with a sustained decline toward the lower end of its 20-day range.
Daily candles, last 90 sessions. Green dashed = support, red dashed = resistance.
EUR/USD closed at 1.1343 after a 0.26% daily decline, extending its five-day fall to 0.92% and its 20-day decline to 2.18%. Price is below the 20-day and 50-day simple moving averages, while the last 10 closes show a clear move down from the 1.1480 area. The daily pivot is at 1.1358, leaving the close just below that reference.
The relative strength index, or RSI, measures momentum on a scale from 0 to 100 and is at 22.62, indicating deeply weak momentum. That can leave room for a short-term rebound, but it does not by itself confirm a trend change. The average true range, or ATR, is 0.0055, so movement around the 1.1328 20-day and 60-day low may remain significant.
GBP/USD
Bearish 1.3254 0.00% liveGBP/USD is below its SMA20 at 1.3410 and SMA50 at 1.3461, trading close to its 20-day and 60-day lows after a persistent decline.
Daily candles, last 90 sessions. Green dashed = support, red dashed = resistance.
GBP/USD is at 1.3233, down 0.16% on the day, 0.82% over five days and 2.09% over 20 days. The pair remains below its 20-day and 50-day simple moving averages, and recent closes have moved down from the 1.3389 area toward the 1.3203 20-day and 60-day low. The daily pivot is 1.3238, slightly above the latest close.
RSI is 30.08, showing weak momentum but not as extreme as EUR/USD. ATR is 0.0070, which indicates a comparatively wide typical daily range for the pair. A sustained move above 1.3238 could bring 1.3272 into view, while 1.3220 and 1.3203 remain the nearby downside references.
USD/JPY
Neutral 156.91 -0.29% liveUSD/JPY is above its SMA20 at 156.09 but below its SMA50 at 158.37, with the latest decline leaving it in the middle-to-lower portion of its 20-day range.
Daily candles, last 90 sessions. Green dashed = support, red dashed = resistance.
USD/JPY closed at 156.56, down 0.51% on the day and 0.57% over five days, while its 20-day change is -2.27%. Price is above the SMA20 at 156.09 but below the SMA50 at 158.37 and the EMA20 at 157.02. The latest candle reached 157.46 before retreating, and the daily pivot is at 157.35.
RSI is 46.22, indicating relatively balanced momentum rather than an overbought or oversold condition. ATR is 1.40, so a move through the recent low at 156.37 could represent a meaningful test of short-term support. A recovery above 157.02 and 157.35 would improve the near-term structure, while the 152.90 20-day and 60-day low remains the broader range floor.
USD/INR
Bullish 95.96 -0.02% liveUSD/INR is above its SMA20 at 95.47 and SMA50 at 95.49, holding in the upper part of its 20-day range near the 96.17 high.
Daily candles, last 90 sessions. Green dashed = support, red dashed = resistance.
USD/INR is at 95.97, almost unchanged on the day but up 0.29% over five days and 1.07% over 20 days. Price is above the 20-day and 50-day simple moving averages as well as the EMA20 at 95.66. The pair is close to its 20-day high at 96.17, while the daily pivot is 95.99.
RSI is 55.11, consistent with moderately positive rather than extreme momentum. ATR is 0.57, so relatively small-looking moves can still be material within the pair's normal daily range. Holding above 95.83 would keep the recent firm structure intact, while a move below 95.68 would place more emphasis on the moving-average area.

The main scheduled risk for dollar pairs is the US release cluster at 16:30 UAE: Core PCE Price Index, Final GDP, Final GDP Price Index and several lower-impact income, spending and trade figures. Higher-than-expected inflation or growth readings can typically support the US dollar, while softer figures can increase two-way volatility and weigh on it; the actual reaction can differ across pairs.
Before that, German Prelim CPI is scheduled for 10:29 UAE and may affect EUR/USD if the inflation reading differs materially from the 0.5% forecast. ADP employment data at 16:15 UAE is another medium-impact US release shortly before the 16:30 cluster. US speakers later include Barkin at 21:30, Cook at 23:25, Goolsbee at 01:10 and Kashkari at 02:00 UAE.
On Thursday, BOE Governor Bailey speaks at 12:00 UAE, ECB President Lagarde speaks at 17:30 UAE, and US Unemployment Claims are due at 16:30 UAE. FOMC speakers and US manufacturing data follow through the afternoon. These events can produce sharp, short-lived moves, particularly when they occur near technical levels.
Algo insight: how a rules-based system treats today
A rules-based approach would classify EUR/USD and GBP/USD as downward-trending while recognising that their low RSI readings can increase rebound risk. USD/JPY is mixed because price is above its SMA20 but below its SMA50, while USD/INR has the clearest positive structure above both averages. Signals should therefore be filtered by trend alignment rather than based on a single indicator.
ATR provides a volatility estimate and can help define a proportionate stop distance; current ATR readings are 0.0055 for EUR/USD, 0.0070 for GBP/USD, 1.40 for USD/JPY and 0.57 for USD/INR. A rules-based model would generally reduce position size when the required risk distance is wider, keeping the amount at risk consistent rather than using the same size across all pairs.
The 16:15 and 16:30 UAE US releases are a high-risk window, especially for USD/JPY and USD/INR as well as the major European pairs. An algorithm may avoid opening new positions immediately before high-impact releases, wait for spreads and volatility to stabilise, and then reassess whether price is holding above or below the relevant pivots. Session timing also matters: EUR/USD and GBP/USD may be most active around European and US overlap, while USD/JPY can also respond during Asian hours.
